My old friend, Ben

Andy Griffith as Matlock
I remember the show Matlock being on (1986–1995) when I was a kid, but I didn't really become familiar with the show until I was older. I liked watching the reruns of the show that would play in the afternoon, especially when I was in college. I'd go to school in the morning and I'd get back home early afternoon and I'd watch Matlock every day while I ate lunch. It was my ritual to watch Ben Matlock defend his innocent clients (he was a defense attorney) while at the same time finding out who committed the crime. I could always count on Matlock to A) find out the truth in the last few minutes of each episode and B) wear his light gray suit!

Police/crime/courtroom dramas sure have changed in the past 25 years since Matlock made his debut on television. The use of computers and cell phones is just one thing that's so prevalent in all of today's television shows, but 25 years ago computers and cell phones didn't play near as big a part of life as they do today. It's crazy how things change! Things change slowly and gradually, but then when you look back you see just how apparent these changes are!

I love Matlock reruns! I'll have to watch one again soon.
