"Wonder"

My mom and I finished reading a great book a few days ago called Wonder by R.J. Palacio. This young adult book is a work of fiction about a boy named August (Auggie) who was born with a facial deformity. Auggie is 10 years old and about to start fifth grade. He'll be going to a mainstream school with "normal" kids for the first time in his life. School can be challenging for any kid; especially one that looks as different as Auggie.

The book is divided into eight different sections and each one is told in the voice of a different character in the book. This was an interesting way to tell the story since it shed a little more light onto what the different characters were thinking/feeling.

Bullying is one of the major themes in the book which is really relevant to today's society since so many kids are confronted with bullying on a daily basis. Kids can be so cruel and my heart just breaks for anyone who has had to experience it! This book kind of reminds me of Out Of My Mind, another young adult book about a child that has a condition that sets them apart from the rest of their peers. Both of these books would make excellent reads for school aged-kids.

I am curious to find out what blog system you're working with? I'm having some minor security problems with my latest site and I'd like to find something more safeguarded. Do you have any solutions?
