Land of the Free

Happy Independence Day! I'm so grateful to live in a country where I'm able to enjoy so many freedoms. I may be partial, but I think the United States is the best and I feel so blessed to live here. There are so many places in the world where people are oppressed and have to live under the rule of leaders who don't have the people's best interests at heart.

Last Sunday my mom wore a bright red shirt to church, so I decided to wear a royal blue cardigan. When Chandra came downstairs I told her she should wear something red to fit in with the patriotic theme that Mom and I were rocking. She said she wasn't sure if she'd be able to come up with something red, but she did. When we got home from church I insisted on taking a picture before we changed our clothes. We were alone so we had to prop the camera up so that we could use the self timer. This picture isn't the best angle (for me, at least) but I didn't want to miss an opportunity to document, so we made it work.
I thought Chandra looked so pretty, so I wanted a few individual pictures of her. She doesn't like how these pictures turned out because she says she doesn't think her smile looks quite genuine in them, but I told her that was pure poppycock and I didn't want to hear it! I mean, the girl is gorgeous and she has one of the most beautiful smiles I've ever seen! She's absolutely gorg! I told her that I was going to set one of these pictures to be her new profile pic on Facebook (which I could do since I know her password), but she said, "NOOO!" (I'm always teasing her that I'm going to change her profile picture since she knows I don't particularly care for her current one. It's several years old, the lighting is awful and it doesn't do her beauty justice.)
Earlier this week I went out to lunch with my friend Kate. She brought her younger sister Michaela along which was nice because I've heard a lot about her, but I've never met her. We ate at Five Guys Burgers and Fries. I've never been there, but I've heard really good things about it from lots of people, so Five Guys has been on my "places to eat" list from long time. When I go out to eat I'm always a little skeptical because I often leave restaurants feeling slightly dissatisfied. I'm pleased to say that I wasn't disappointed in Five Guys and I'd eat there again.

You are a beautiful family, especially your mother. You're all 'fireworks' in your own ways. :)
