I'm looking for suggestions for some good books. One of the things that my mom and I enjoy doing together is reading. I can't hold a book/turn pages, so my mom reads out loud to me. This is fun for us because we get to read good books and discuss them together. We're about to finish up another book, and I don't have anything lined up for us to read after that, so I'm looking for some suggestions. We like to read books of all sorts, so if you know of a book that's really good, leave me a comment. Thanks for your help!

I am not a reader myself but my Ladies Bible Study Group is reading Choosing to See by Mary Beth Chapman, wife of Steven Curtis Chapman. It is a wonderful book and I highly recommend it.
I really like teen books, maybe because I teacher junior high. :) Anything by Shannon Hale is good. I really like Princess Academy. They are fairy tales of sorts. Mainly strong female characters conquering large problems. I also read a series called "The Uglies" (The second one is "The Pretties" and then "The Specials.") It's about a futuristic world where at the age of 16 you have surgery to become "Pretty." It really makes you think about what beauty really is.
I know I mentioned them to you, but I never actually sent you the title/author. I am really enjoying the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. The first book is The City of Bones. They're really good.
THE HUNGER GAMES is a must if you haven't read it yet. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and has all the good elements, romance, drama, suspense, etc.
SHE'S COME UNDONE by Wally Lamb is one of my favorites as well, but it sort of an emotional roller coaster to read.
RACHEL'S HOLIDAY by Marianne Keyes is excellent - very funny and poignant.
Let us know what you end up choosing! Happy reading!
I dont know what kind of books you are into but one of my favorites is Love Lights The Way and if you can get over the cheesy title, its a real page turner! It's an LDS fiction novel that I've read several times- and that's saying a lot because i am not a reader! :)
I just read this the other day - quick read:
http://www.amazon.com/Kira-Kira-Newbery-Medal-Cynthia-Kadohata/dp/0689856393
it was very good and is a newbery medal winner.
It was AMAZING, but very delightful and nice.
Where to start??? LOL>
I LOVED "Anne Frank Remembered," by Miep Guiss. The book is old (I remember reading it when I lived in St. Louis) but it really made me think.
I also love books by "Old" writers: Gwen Bristow. She wrote, "Jubilee Trail," and "Calico Palace."
I also LOVE Betty McDonald. She was the predecessor to Erma Bombeck. She wrote the "Mrs. Piggle Wiggle" series for children and also humorous books for adults. You would have to order her books from her online website (just type in Betty McDonald in a search engine). Your mom might be able to identify with Betty's book, "Onions In The Stew." Betty wrote about raising teenage daughters.
